Trauma therapy & EMDR in Santa Barbara
Trauma isn't only what happened to you — it's what your body and nervous system still carry. Healing is possible, at a pace that respects where you are.
I'm a certified EMDR practitioner (ICM) and work with survivors of childhood trauma, religious trauma, and domestic violence, as well as people living with complex PTSD. I also support first responders and helping professionals carrying vicarious trauma.
How trauma work unfolds
1 · Safety first
We build trust and stabilize before we process. You are the barometer of what feels safe to share, always.
2 · Processing with EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps the brain digest stuck memories so they lose their charge and stop hijacking the present.
3 · Reclaiming your story
As old narratives loosen ("I'm not safe," "It was my fault"), there's room for new ones — and for the relationships and life you actually want.
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy recognized for treating PTSD. It can also help with anxiety, phobias, and painful beliefs formed early in life. I integrate it with attachment-focused and psychodynamic work rather than using it as a stand-alone technique.
